We are seeking both an Apprentice & Experienced Wood Finisher's who are passionate about fine craftsmanship and eager to master our proven finishing methods. This role is hands-on and process-driven — perfect for someone who values quality, learning, and contributing to a supportive, growth-oriented team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Wood Finisher, you will:

• Perform all steps in the finishing process — including sanding, prepping, staining, spraying, and applying dyes, glazes, paints, and catalyzed finishes.
• Progressively develop custom color matching and specialty finish skills.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and cabinetry drawings.
• Prepare and repair wood surfaces by filling cracks, smoothing imperfections, and distressing surfaces when required.
• Mix and apply finishing ingredients to achieve desired tones, sheens, and effects.
• Coordinate timing and workflow as cabinetry pieces move through the finishing department.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment consistent with Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Uphold Detroit Woodworking’s quality standards through continuous feedback and attention to detail.
