The Art of Prayer: A Journey Through States of Consciousness
This book is the fruit of years of practice and exploration in the School for the Art of Prayer at the Shakio Institute. It offers a fundamentally new understanding of the meaning of prayer as a unique opportunity to open to the inner depths of our lives.
The Art of Prayer is a regenerative learning approach exploring a core component of human existence – our natural capacity for prayer. It is a framework of practices in which people from all walks of life – religious and secular, those who have an existing prayer practice and those who do not – are invited to discover fresh gateways into the Art of Prayer.
This book profoundly addresses fundamental questions, such as:
- What is prayer consciousness?
- What process does the act of prayer enable?
- What is the relationship between body, consciousness and language?
- How can prayer be a model for life?
Shakio is a space for collaborative exploration, founded by Baruch Brenner an orthodox rabbi, multidisciplinary artist, who investigates and teaches performance art and Jewish mysticism, the author of ‘From the Diary of a Worshiper’ (Idra publishing), and Dana Ganihar, a Focusing Coordinator and teacher of the philosophy of Eugene Gendlin.
